We are very lucky at Houghton Conquest Lower School to have our food supplied by Caterlink an award winning food service provider catering for schools.
Caterlink is the first contract caterer to achieve the ‘Food for Life’ catering mark awarded by the Soil Association which endorses caterers who deliver healthy and climate friendly menus.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) but Year 3 and Year 4 will need to pay (see below).
Menu Choices: We ask parents to choose carefully and commit to their food choices for a full term. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a weekly choice due to the amount of administration required. Please help us by ensuring that your child’s menu choice form is returned to school promptly before the start of each term.
Food Allergy and Intolerance: Individual care/meal plans are created for pupils with food allergies. These document symptoms and adverse reactions, actions to be taken in an emergency and emergency contact details. Requests for special diets need to be made using official forms supplied by Caterlink.
Packed Lunches: Children can also bring a packed lunch if preferred. The school encourages parents and carers to provide children with packed lunches that promote healthy eating. Please note that we are a nut free school (this includes items such as chocolate spread and chocolate pancakes (many of which contain nuts)).
Lunch Costs and How to Pay (Years 3 and 4 only): £2.50 per day; £12.50 per week or £97.50 for the half term (Autumn 2), £20 for Roast Wednesday (Autumn 2) and £20 for Fun Friday (Autumn 2). Just a reminder that children when children into year 3 they will no longer be entitled to Universal Infant Free School meals.
Please note that Caterlink operate a strict NO MONEY NO LUNCH Policy. All monies to be paid IN FULL on Mondays except at the beginning of new half terms when payment is due the first day back.
Please put your payment in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and include a lunch booking form which can be downloaded below or hard copies can be picked up from the school reception. The envelopes should be handed by the child to the class teacher. Cheques should be made payable to Houghton Conquest Lower School. Thank you.
