We are lucky to have lots of outdoor space at Houghton. We have a large playing field and plenty of apparatus to play on in the playgrounds including our trim trail and pirate ship. We also have a large environmental area which we use as an outdoor classroom and where we grow everything from flowers to vegetables. As part of our Eco-school aspirations we have provided habitats for wildlife and all the pupils participate in environmental issues both locally and nationally.
Robins (Reception) have their own outdoor learning area which is directly accessed from their classroom.
Extra-curricular lunchtime activity clubs
Each year from the October half term, we have been running our extra-curricular activities during lunchtime on a weekly basis. This is to offer our children a range of enrichment activities, trying to cater for a range of interests and age groups. We wanted to share with you the choice of activities we have on offer for your children to select from through each half term. We will be continually reviewing this provision on a half termly basis to ensure we are adapting these based on the children’s interests. This information will be updated on our website accordingly and we aim to share this with our parents each half term.
Lunch time clubs range from:
If you would like your child to take part within a piano or guitar lesson on a weekly basis, ‘Link Learning’ provide this service within our school each Wednesday. If you would like to book music tuition sessions for your child please click here.
We offer daily wrap around care from ‘Kidzone’. They offer a high-quality service of Ofsted registered activity clubs for primary school aged children, in the form of before and after school clubs with a focus on children participating in a range of physical and creative activities around different weekly themes. Please see further information regarding this provision under our ‘wrap around care’ tab on our website.
