Hawks have been absolute stars this half term, they are really engaged well with Forest School activities. They have learned to tie knots, light fires and keep them going, use the saw, knives, loppers and drills. They have done lots of den building and are fantastic tree climbers. They have cooked over the fire and become experts at making hot chocolate.
This December the children have enjoyed a range of different winter/Christmas themed texture tray activities. We have had the Artic animals, a snowy town with trains, making marks in fake snow and a candy cane.
The pre-school children have been busy this week learning about poppies and the importance of why we wear them. They have been making their own poppies using tissue paper and glue, painting poppies and exploring a poppy themed messy tray. We also spoke about the colours of the green and purple poppy and what they represent.
The children participated in an Indian Dance workshop on Friday which was led by K’z Dance Entertainment. The children were taught a brief introduction of Indian dances, culture and festivals as well as a brief festival storytelling about Diwali.
The children worked on 2 dance routines which were showcased at the end of each session and the day finished with a grand finale dance performance. Everyone involved had a fab time, including the staff!
The pre-school children have had a great week looking at all things space, they wrapped the home corner in tin foil to give a space effect, the children had their very own space rocket pretending to be astronauts. The children also made their own space rockets and wrote their name letters in shapes to build a rocket.
The children have enjoyed Autumn crafts as they have been making their own Autumn tree, pumpkins using leaves and exploring texture trays with Autumnal resources. The children gathered these resources by going on a sensory walk to the field at school and gathered everything they could find.
