The pre-school children have been busy this week learning about poppies and the importance of why we wear them. They have been making their own poppies using tissue paper and glue, painting poppies and exploring a poppy themed messy tray. We also spoke about the colours of the green and purple poppy and what they represent.
The children participated in an Indian Dance workshop on Friday which was led by K’z Dance Entertainment. The children were taught a brief introduction of Indian dances, culture and festivals as well as a brief festival storytelling about Diwali.
The children worked on 2 dance routines which were showcased at the end of each session and the day finished with a grand finale dance performance. Everyone involved had a fab time, including the staff!
The pre-school children have had a great week looking at all things space, they wrapped the home corner in tin foil to give a space effect, the children had their very own space rocket pretending to be astronauts. The children also made their own space rockets and wrote their name letters in shapes to build a rocket.
The children have enjoyed Autumn crafts as they have been making their own Autumn tree, pumpkins using leaves and exploring texture trays with Autumnal resources. The children gathered these resources by going on a sensory walk to the field at school and gathered everything they could find.
Some of our KS1 students participated in a Multi-Skills Festival this morning at Alameda Middle School, they had lots of fun!
This week Robins have been learning about teeth and how to keep them healthy along with their five senses. They went on a sensory walk around school whereby they used their senses of touch, smell, hear and sight. They could see and hear lots of singing, talking, the wind blowing the leaves, aeroplanes and rustling of crunchy leaves; they could smell school dinners, a bonfire from Forest School and could touch the leaves, grass and hug a tree.
