Falcons class were fortunate to have a specialist mosaic designer come into school and help us to create our own mosaics! We first had to create a plan using 3 colours with repeating patterns. Next, we were taught how to cut our own mosaic tiles and how each tool would change the shape of the tile in order to create shapes. We created a border and then cut the tiles ready for the centerpiece. As a class, we had to grout our tiles when the glue had dried. We mixed the grout with water and used a cardboard square to spread it over the tiles. We then cleaned this off the next day, ready to take home.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success – the children, staff and school looked amazing.
A huge thank you to everyone that supported our team enterprise project last week. The children really enjoyed this activity and they raised an amazing £96.80 which will go towards providing some fantastic resources for Science Week. Well Done!
Doves class has been exploring the school’s gardening area and identifying, sketching and labeling the plants that grow there. We have even planted our own seeds.
Congratulations to our KS2 Gymnastics Team who received the certificate for demonstrating the value of ‘Determination’ throughout the recent gymnastics festival run by the Redborne School Sports Partnership.
Reception and Year 2 have been making bread rolls this week in cooking. Robins even made Red Riding Hood bags to take them home.
A juvenile hedgehog was found today trying to get into our school hall!! He has been taken to Marston Hoggies to be assessed; they will then find him a foster home before releasing him into the wild when he has put some weight on and the time is right.
Doves class have been writing about the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and even went on their very own hunt around the school…what an amazing time we had.
The children all enjoyed making Christmas hats this morning ready to wear enjoying our Christmas lunch…
