I wonder how many of you noticed the new markings in our playground this morning… which is your favourite bit.
Our role play area has turned into a dentist’s surgery; the children have enjoyed pretending to be a dentist and a patient. We have also discussed lots about healthy foods and the impact of unhealthy foods and our teeth.
Today, each class enjoyed taking part in a specialist dance workshop. They all really enjoyed the experience and the weather just about held up for us! Thanks to Redborne School Sport Partnership for organising such an amazing opportunity for our children.
“The dance workshop, was really fun. I really enjoyed learning a new routine.” (Year 4 child)
Van Gogh painted the Sunflowers in 1887 and he painted The Starry Night in 1888; year 2 painted them in April 2021. I am sure you agree they look amazing.
We have started using the Wild Passport curriculum with them and are getting on well. Our topics are Tools, Shelter, Fire, Nature and Ropes. So far we have learned to use potato peeler, secateurs, loppers and a bow saw. We have learned fire circle safety and how to build and put out a fire. We have made dens for little creatures and nests for birds. We have learned to tie knots and thread wood cookies. We have hunted for bugs, learned the names of trees and watched the change in seasons. We have also done lots of tree climbing, swinging and playing in the mud kitchen of course.
The children really enjoyed having a science focused afternoon each day and took part in a huge range of exciting experiments
Over the past few months, we have been working with a past student, who is currently at the University of Hertford, to create a wellbeing room called ‘The Reef’ for all pupils to support their return to school.
‘The Reef’ is an experience not to be missed as you immerse yourself under the sea and experience a sensory delight. The gentle sound of the waves lapping the shore, beautiful soft light, tactile resources to touch and feel and if you look up to the surface you can see a turtle and Mata ray swimming by; a very calming environment. The idea was developed by Olivia Harvey, and she has volunteered many hours to the school to see this transform into a reality. The children were so surprised to see such a magical change and have loved visiting the room over the past few weeks. We would like to thank her very much on behalf of our school family.
